Lewisburg, Union County-
A scale replica printing press built this summer at Bucknell University is finding a new home in our nation's capitol.
Bucknell engineering students designed the Gutenberg-style press a few years back.
Project Development Lab Director George Waltman built another one, which is headed to the prestigious Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D. C.
The Gutenberg press is widely considered one of the most important inventions in history.
Mechanical Engineering Professor Tom Rich explained, "The Gutenberg Press with movable type made it possible to cheaply reproduce the written word in large quantities that average people could get access to."
George Waltman spent about 100 hours working on his replica printing press.
Bucknell officials say they are extremely proud to have their students' and faculty's work on display in D. C.
