SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - A woman who admittedly housed foreign exchange students in filthy conditions was sentenced Tuesday morning.

Edna Burgette will spend 3 months in prison, 6 months on house arrest, and 42 months on probation.

Burgette plead guilty back in February to endangering the welfare of a child.

The sentence was surprising; most were expecting Burgette to not receive jail time because of her age, 69, and health concerns.

Burgette also faces federal mail fraud charges.
