Burglary Investigation Turns Up Thousands of Stolen Items

Burglary Investigation Turns Up Thousands of Stolen Items - Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 12:37PM EST

CLARKS SUMMIT, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Police in Lackawanna County say an on going burglary investigation has turned up thousands of pieces to stolen jewelry and other items.
Officers from Clarks Summit, Dunmore, and Waverly displayed more than 5,000 items seized from the home of their suspect, 36-year-old Tara Morgan-Modeski from Clarks Green. Modeski was arrested in January in connection with burglary charges filed in Clarks Summit and Dunmore. Another charge, from Waverly, led to her being jailed.

Investigators said that Modeski was going to homes in various communities and checking homes to see if someone was inside. When confronted, police say she claimed to be a visiting nurse who had come to the wrong address.

At her arraignment in January Modeski, through her attorney, claimed to be the victim of mistaken identity. But police say she and her vehicle were identified by several witnesses.

Investigators say she is now cooperating with police. Officers say she was selling some of the stolen items on eBay. They say eBay has also been cooperating with their investigation.
