Williamsport, Lycoming County-

There are more eyes on the lookout over the streets of Williamsport.

55 surveillance cameras are being stationed throughout five high-crime areas in the city.

The web-based digital video cameras are expected to help bolster community safety.

Newberry Estates property manager Shannon Nappi said, "I think it gives a sense of relief knowing that there's additional backup there, that people can actually watch what's going on either as it happens or immediately following."

Total cost for the system is about $15,000.

The Lycoming County District Attorney’s office is providing half the funding through money garnered from drug busts.
