WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- Campaign volunteers hit the streets bright and early Monday in Wilkes-Barre to get their message out. These young people came here from Catholic University in Washington, to help out Lou Barletta.

Republican Volunteer John Byers said, "It's very important Catholic University singled out this district as a key one where there is an incumbent in for 24 years and we are fighting for Lou. He asked us to come up here and that's why are out here this morning."

Volunteer Gavlin Haglin said, "We're all part of Catholic Republicans. Every year we pick out races we really need our help and this is definitely a race where we can actually gain a seat."

Just down the street, the Democratic headquarters was a very busy place in the 11th hour push for votes. They say a large voter turnout is key for a Democratic win.

Democratic Volunteer John Latini said, "Our mission today is knocking on as many doors as we can we get a ton of people out there already get their vote and actually get there."

Those we talked with on the street say their minds are made up. Bill McLaughlin of Wilkes-Barre said, "I'm glad it's over. It certainly seems like campaigns in recent years are getting nastier and nastier. It's so hard to find out what some of the issues are. It's so clouded, so negative."

Guy Serpico said, "I've been a Republican all my life but I'm voting Democrat. They don't deserve more votes."
