Candidates Stomped Early & Often in PA - Monday, November 3, 2008 at 11:00PM EST

The road to the White House included many stops on the campaign trial in northeast and central Pennsylvania.

This election the Keystone State is a key battleground. The candidates visited often and early to get the votes of Pennsylvanians.

It was a memorable journey, and rarely will Pennsylvania and our area get this much attention during a presidential election.

Seven solid months of campaigning, and Pennsylvanians haven't looked back. The story began in March as an intense Democratic primary catapulted the state into a feverish limelight.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama battled hard to win the Democratic nomination. The race ended in defeat for Senator Clinton, and steered attention away from PA.

But while pundits said PA would be true blue, the Republicans seemed to have another hook. Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin brushed the area twice.

In Obama's war chest, was Scranton’s own Joe Biden. Biden came home a number of times.

Pennsylvania aside, both candidates time and time again narrowed the race down to the northeast. And on election eve, a former president and a former presidential candidate stomped again.
