Williamsport, Lycoming County-

A familiar face in Williamsport has high hopes of getting back into the political arena.

Former 83rd District State Representative Steve Cappelli announced his bid to recapture his old seat Friday morning.

Cappelli is a Republican who has also served as Williamsport mayor and councilman. He quit the House job in late 2008 in a failed bid for state Senate.

Cappelli says a desire to serve others led to his decision to return to politics.

He noted, "I'm pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, I've fought for the mentally retarded, the physically disabled, our seniors, our veterans, our active duty national guard. I've worked with businesses large and small in every community in this district."

The 83rd District seat is currently held by Democrat Rick Mirabito.
