Car Crashes into Ice Cream Store - Friday, May 29, 2009 at 6:15PM EST

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- One woman was taken to the hospital after a freak accident in Scranton Friday afternoon.
It happened at Manning's Ice Cream on Meadow Avenue around 2:00 P. M. A woman's Cadillac became wedged between the store's wall and a support pillar.

Firefighters had to rescue the elderly driver. She was trapped for about 20 minutes.

One eyewitness says she was nearly hit. Arianne Scheller said, “I just turned around and she was coming by me, screetching, smashing full force, like several miles per hour into the liquor store window."

There is no word on the woman's name nor condition.
