SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Law enforcement officers from more than a dozen states are in Scranton for the annual convention of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators.

More than 350 officers are attending the annual session which includes programs and discussions on efforts and techniques being used to deal with the auto theft problem. Delegates will also get to see vendors' displays of new technology designed to identify stolen vehicles and help catch the thieves who took them.

Miles Walsh from the Lackawanna County District Attorney's Office says that auto theft continues to be a major problem throughout the country. But he says the energy crisis has even changed the habits of car thieves who are now targeting smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles.
