Jim Thorpe National Bank is reminding people not to give out personal information to anyone asking for it over the phone or online.

The bank has received 30 reports that customers and non-customers have gotten phone calls from people posing as bank representatives. These scammers claim there's been a security breach and ask for personal banking information to update records.

Seven people fell for this ploy called phishing. Jay Miller of Jim Thorpe National Bank says “we're warning people not to give out information to anyone. That's not what bank does or what a bank wants."

If you gave out information, call the bank right away so it can shut your account down.

The calls came from 303 and 312 area codes and have also used the name of other local banks.
