CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - A fire that destroyed a business early Thursday morning in Lackawanna County has been ruled accidental.

Flames tore through Dyvex Industries in Carbondale around 2:00 AM. The owner is already vowing to rebuild. A state police fire marshal says the blaze started because of a malfunctioning machine. The owner puts the damage in the millions.

For workers like Chuck Perry, who's invested 11 years at Dyvex, Thursday was a difficult day.

"The last six months or so, we've been pretty busy, working extra hours, everything like that," Perry said.

Dyvex Industries was one of the world's leading suppliers of scented polymers. Those are ingredients used to make air fresheners for cars.

"I've been here from the beginning. It's been myself, Bobby, Gino and Joe. We did everything until we grew big enough to hire other people," David Pettinato said.

Pettinato has been with Dyvex for 20 years. He was able to save some pictures from the business. While Pettinato is worried about his future, he's also worried about fulfilling customer orders.

"I've already had calls from all over the country and I said, 'how did you guys find out?' It was word of mouth. Everyone we're dealing with called, offering what can we do, what can we do to help?" Pettinato said.

Even though the fire just happened, co-owner Robert Strony is already vowing to rebuild.

"Our plan is to get a command post hopefully up the road here," Strony said. "Get some phone lines hooked up, call our customers, call our vendors, tell them what happened and go from that point forward," Strony said.
