Card Shop Robber Gets Jail Time - Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 5:26PM EST

Williamsport, Lycoming County-

The man accused of brutally beating and robbing a baseball card shop owner in Montoursville was sentenced Tuesday afternoon.

David Baney pleaded no contest to robbing Ronald Aderhold, of Montoursville, back in March of this year.

Authorities say the attack happened at the Montoursville Baseball Card Shop.

According to arrest papers, Baney looked over some rare cards before Aderhold with a metal bar. Baney then made off with thousands of dollars in merchandise.

On Tuesday, Aderhold noted, “My wife and I have really been trying to put all this behind us. It’s been very hard.”

Baney was sentenced to 18-36 months in prison, followed by several years of probation. Outside court, he showed no remorse for his alleged actions.

When asked if he thought his sentence was fair, Baney replied, “It was better than I thought it was going to be.” Asked if he had anything to say the Aderhold family, he said, “No, not really.”

Aderhold wasn’t exactly impressed with the judge’s sentence. He explained, “I thought it was a little easy, because I could’ve been killed from what happened.”

Now Ron Aderhold is attempting to move on. He’s much more cautious in dealing with people at his shop.

And he says he hopes someday David Baney will turn his life around. He added, “We’ll find out how he’s going to handle this, if he tries to straighten his life out. I hope he does.”

Baney was also ordered to pay more than $28,000 in restitution.

The stolen cards have not been recovered. They are believed to have been sold to someone in Philadelphia.
