Celebrating Halloween Saturday Style - Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 10:02PM EST

NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- It's been a night for trick or treating throughout northeastern and central Pennsylvania. It's also a big night for parties.

And in one Luzerne County neighborhood, it's plenty of both. It centers on a house that features treats, scary attractions and music from the king.

It'd take more than a whole cell block to hold the huge Halloween night crowd in this Nanticoke neighborhood. They're enjoying the music of Elvis -- or in this case a professional Elvis impersonator.

It's all part of Halloween at the Mera family home on East Ridge Street. Joseph Mera said, "It's really about people having a good time... the community and kids and everybody just having a good time."

It started out small about 5-years ago when Mera's dad set up a few props. But then Joseph got involved and put his contractor skills to use. "So naturally I started building some props and animating them and it's just been taking off from there," he added.

As you can imagine, it takes months of planning and lots of helping hands. Mera's sister Brittany Kasper said, "The whole family comes and takes a part in it and helps create everything and put everything together."

Some people near and far make it a point to spend each Halloween here. For others, like Karolina Gumolka, it's her first visit. "I think it's amazing. I love the Elvis impersonator. I think it's pretty cool," she said.

Brian Martin, who doubles as Elvis, said, "This is a good turnout, people enjoy it, so we do it every year."

And the Halloween crowd, no matter the age, is glad for that. Carmelo Pioquinto said, "This place is probably the best. I mean, like, they sing. They have lots of treats."

Rick Olshefski added, "I just think it's great that they go through all the trouble just to make sure that everybody has a good time. Nice and safe for the kids, just a lot of fun."

When asked how much money it takes to put on the annual Halloween spectacle, Mera says he's not sure but probably a couple thousand dollars.
