Attracting filmmakers is the goal of the newly formed Central Pennsylvania Film Office.

The opening of the film office was announced Tuesday at Williamsport's Cinema Center.

The office will market the area's lush landscapes, rolling farmlands, and quaint cities as settings for movies, documentaries, and TV shows.

C. P.F. O. Founder and Executive Director Lorena Beniquez explained, "We're hoping that commerce plus creativity will equal economic development. When we bring these crews here to shoot, they're going to need places to sleep, they're going to need to it, and they’re going to need to utilize professional services."

For now, the C. P.F. O. will be staffed by about a dozen volunteers. Space for the office has been donated at Williamsport City Hall.
