DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- 36-year-old Tara Morgan-Modeski turned herself in to authorities Friday morning to face charges in connection with a series of home burglaries in Clarks Summit and Dunmore.

Police say the woman walked into unlocked homes to get cash and jewelry. They say, when confronted by a resident, she claimed to have come to the wrong address.

According to the arrest papers a resident in Dunmore confronted the woman after he heard his back door open. Police said the defendant told the home owner she was looking for a doctor's office, then left.

A similar incident occurred in Clarks Summit where the home owner was able to get the license number of the car involved. Police say that license number was traced to the defendant's Jeep.

The woman's parents and attorney say they believe this is a case of mistaken identity.
