MAYFIELD, LACKAWANNA COUNTY-The holidays are not over for everyone just yet for those following the Julian Calendar, Monday is Christmas.
We stopped by "Saint John's Russian Orthodox Cathedral" in Mayfield this morning -- where church leaders were getting ready for the celebration.
The congregation has been here for 118 years -- and parishioners come from Nathaniel Sorochka, Sub-Deacon explained the traditin
"We don't greet each other by saying Merry Christmas. We greet each other by saying Christ is Born and we respond by saying, Glorify Him. Our Christa Dietsa and that's the spirit of Christmas."
The churches of Jerusalem, Russia and Serbia all follow the Julian calendar. | | |
