SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - An organization that helps needy families in Lackawanna County is in need of some help itself this holiday season.
The Christmas Holiday Bureau in Scranton needs donations to help provide assistance to families.
Each family who is eligible will be given a gift card to WalMart. So far, program organizers say more than 1,000 families have applied for help this year.
Organizers also say they need to raise an additional $60,000-$70,000 this year.
"We need the generosity of this community. They've always been there for us and we hope they come through again," Community Service Director Ellen Stevens said.
