DALLAS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY -- Children throughout the world are set to receive Christmas gifts from the Trinity Presbyterian church here.
Church members have been collecting presents to put in shoe boxes. They'll be sent to kids all over the globe through a program called "Samaritan's Purse." Organizers send everything from school supplies to shoes to sweets.
"One of the ladies that we've met has delivered boxes and she said, it may be the only candy they ever got, but they turn around and share it because they are just so thrilled that they want to share what they've got," said Mary Chappell, organizer.
She says they sent about 60 boxes last year, and they hope to double that this year.
The church is in need of donations to cover shipping costs. They're required to include $7 per box, which could total more than $800. If you're interested in helping offset the costs, the number for the church is 675-3131. | |
