McADOO, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY- Fire heavily damaged a church rectory. Just before 10 Thursday morning flames broke out in the third floor.
The monsignor smelled smoke and found flames in the ceiling. Firefighters responded within minutes. Asst. Chief Bob Leshko said, "We had heavy smoke coming form third floor. I was met by the Monsignor telling me he went up to the third floor smoke started coming out of there. Upon gaining entry, with limited manpower, I immediately requested a second alarm, got us more manpower."
The fire was contained to the third floor. Damage is more than $100,000 and records from the rectory are being moved into the church. A State Police Fire Marshal says an overloaded circuit caused that fire.
One firefighter did suffer a medical condition. He was taken to Hazleton General Hospital, treated and released.
