MAYFIELD, LACKAWANNA-In Lackawanna County, a group of concerned residents are fearing for the peace and safety of their small town.
People from Mayfield, Jermyn, Carbondale, Carbondale Township, and Archbald packed a church hall Tuesday night. They oppose a proposed ethanol plant being built in Mayfield.
According to community members, the public was not made aware of this plan until about two weeks ago.
As a result, a "No Ethanol" committee was formed.
The group is circulating a petition to submit to the Mayfield City Council in October.

Randy Horhutz of the "No Ethanol" Committee says , "What we are saying is the people are beginning to understand what is going on and they don't want the ethanol plant. It's too risky. That is the feeling we are getting.

The next meeting will be held at st. John's hall in Mayfield at 7:00 p.M. On Tuesday. We have set up a link to the group's website
