LOCK HAVEN, CLINTON COUNTY -- A Clinton County woman who was supposed to be executed this month for murdering an elderly man got a stay of execution.

Shonda Walter was convicted for the hatchet murder of 83-year-old James Sementelli. It happened in 2003 in Lock Haven. Prosecutors say Walter robbed Sementelli of $500 and his car.

A Clinton County judge granted the defense lawyer a stay to prepare court filings.

Walter was scheduled to be executed April 22nd.
