SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - It was a rally to support Barack Obama, but it was more about character and connections than policy.
"We must elect Barack Obama and Joe Biden on November fourth," Senator Hillary Clinton told a crowd of more than 6,000 at the Riverfront Sports Complex Sunday afternoon.
Hillary and Bill Clinton both talked at the rally, along with Vice Presidential candidate Joe Biden and his wife Jill. They told the crowd that Senator Obama-Senator Biden team could fix the economy, improve healthcare and stop the war in Iraq.
"You can't call yourself a maverick when all you've been is a sidekick," Senator Joe Biden said.
The political power players had several key points to make. The biggest was to convince the crowd of Senator Clinton's support of Obama, even though she lost in the democratic primary.
"Who's got the best ability to understand these challenges? Who's got the best supporting cast? The answer is Barack Obama," former President Bill Clinton said.
Senators Clinton and Biden also emphasized what they call their "roots" in Scranton. | |
