LA PLUME, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- A college community is rallying behind a senior student stricken with cancer.
An all-day fundraiser at Keystone called Victory for Victoria is benefiting Victoria Garcia. People have been showing up throughout the day to help the 22-year-old forensics biology student who has Stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma.
14 bands donated their talents while dozens of businesses and students donated food and raffle prizes for the event. It's been an outpouring of generosity to help ÒVickyÓ with her medical bills.
VickyÕs cousin Sabrina Ramos said, "It's kind of cool because they're supporting my cousin with cancer and they're doing so much for her."
Benefit organizer Thaddeus Koneski said, "It's all about love and it's all about helping Vicky out and we're doing everything that we can to make it easier on her and her family."
"I'll put the best fight I can possibly put. Thank you to everyone. I don't even know how much more I can say thank you," said Vicky.
The Victory for Victoria fundraiser continues until midnight at Keystone College's Theatre in Brooks. | |
