DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY- Misericordia University is making sure its safety measures are up to code.
They had a test-run of their emergency system on campus Thursday.
The campus also held an evacuation drill at Mercy Hall.
It sent out text message and e-mail alerts to subscribers.
Campus safety says the tests are vital in an age of violent outbursts at universities across the country.
Paul Murphy, Director of campus safety said, "Since Virginia Tech, we know it's important to get information out to the community as soon as possible."
Misericordia conducts these emergency tests on a yearly basis.
