They were there to help brighten up South Scranton.

Eyewitness News found dozens of students taking part in the South Side Paint Out. The students picked up garbage and helped to get rid of graffiti on more than 15 businesses and homes.

The event was one of the first major projects of a South Side revitalization plan that we told you about last week.

The students concentrated their efforts today on the 600-block of Cedar Avenue and Birch Street.
