SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Construction began in Scranton Friday morning for The Commonwealth Medical College's Medical Sciences Building. The structure will eventually house classrooms, laboratories, and simulation centers for students at the new school.
The Commonwealth Medical College is the first new medical school to be started in Pennsylvania in more than 40 years. It will open in temporary facilities at Lackawanna College this August. There have been more than 1300 student applications for the school's first class of 60.
