MUNCY CREEK TOWNSHIP, LYCOMING COUNTY -- People skated away at the roller skating rink inside the Trout Pond Park Complex Saturday. But state police say vandals ransacked the place just two days earlier.
"Doors were broken into, the place was completely vandalized," said the complex owner, Frank Pidcoe.
The vandals stole close to $1,000 in candy, swiped $1,200 in petty cash and coins out of vending machines, and caused more than $12,000 in damage.
Slushy mix now stains the hardwood floors of the old skating rink next door. It's now a karate and dance studio.
"With the time and effort that his wife put into this place to make it an enjoyable place around here, and then someone come around and do something like this, it's ludicrous," said customer Frank Applebey, Huntington Mills.
Police say the vandals also broke into the paintball store, which is attached to the old skating rink. The thieves took off with $8,000 worth of paintball guns and paintballs.
Pidcoe is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever's responsible.
Anyone with information is asked to call state police at Montoursville at 570-368-5700. | |
