SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY

The owner of the Coney Island Restaurant in Scranton had hoped to be open and in business again by May first. But that plan will have to wait!

The restaurant was heavily damaged by fire on April 4th. Investigators determined that it was a case of arson.

Owner Tom Moran says the interior damage was much more extensive than he initially expected. He says the interior must be totally restored. Additionally Moran is in the process of continuing with a building renovation he began before the fire which involves the removal of the top two floors of the structure.

Moran says he hopes to have everything done in time to reopen by the 4th of July Holiday.
