Contract Dispute Heats Up At Lake Lehman - Monday, October 8, 2007 at 9:55PM EST

LEHMAN TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY- There are new and some what explosive developments in the Lake-Lehman schools contract dispute. All this as a strike looms.

On Monday night, the school board's attorney read a resolution indicating board president Charles Balavage was allegedly talked down to by Union President Daniel Williams.
The resolution accuses Williams of using racially-charged comments -- at a September 27th meeting between the two sides in a contract negotiation session. Both men are white.
Through the resolution the board is demanding an apology from Williams.
Charles Coslett, the Solicitor, for the Lake-Lehman School Board had this to say, "He's a public servant of the finest order and to be attacked that way was reprehensible."
WBRE News spoke with union representatives. They called the allegations "totally false, not true and inaccurate..."
John Holland with the P-S-E-A says Union President Daniel Williams has nothing to apologize for.
Neither side would comment on the nature of the alleged remarks.
A strike is scheduled for Monday, October 15th.
