SUGAR NOTCH, LUZERNE COUNTY -- A week long homeless shelter at a Luzerne County church is coming to a close Sunday night after some controversy.

Holy Family Church in Sugar Notch hosted dozens of homeless men since Monday night. A zoning official originally threatened the homeless advocacy group, VISION, $500 day if they stayed. The fine was never imposed and the controversy died down.

VISION Executive Director Vince Kabackinski says the week turned out to be a success. "We have had over 210-volunteers that have come to the shelter from as far away as Philadelphia bringing food, bringing clothing, bringing various donations to help the cause," he said.

VISION will house homeless men Monday night in Glen Lyon at Corpus Christi Church.

Meanwhile the homeless advocacy group says they want to return to Sugar Notch in the future.
