Lycoming County-

Four straight days of above 90 degree temperatures have people finding creative ways to cool off. Beating the heat has become a top priority. "It's way too hot for the first week in June," one woman lamented. "Stay indoors or go swimming. I think that's the only things you can do."

And plenty of people did just that. We found lots of kids enjoying the cool blue water at Williamsport's Brandon Park pool. James Huston brought his kids down for a day of fun in the sun. "Yeah it's a beautiful day, beautiful pool. The lifeguards are very attentive. It's been fun," Huston added.

Some weren't so lucky. Bob Gordon and his crew were working on the Main Street Bridge project. They were definitely feeling the heat. Gordon said, "It's tougher to work in this situation so you try to keep hydrated, drink more, more frequent breaks. You know, do what you can."

Some people without access to a pool opted for air-conditioned public places. The Lycoming Mall was a popular destination for many, including Sylvia Adams, visiting from Florida. Adams noted, "It feels like I'm back home actually. I came up here to cool off and have some vacation away from the heat, and I come right back to it."

Indiana Jones was the film of choice for members of the Weber family, who cooled off with a matinee at Williamsport's new Cinema Center. Shelby Weber explained, "Going in to get out of the heat, but we do want to see the movie too."

Of course, cold treats are always a welcome relief from scorching summer days. There was a steady line at Rita's Italian Ice in Loyalsock Township.

And for others the answer was simply to wait it out. Sade Caesar, of Williamsport, said, "Turn on the Central Air, wait until the sun goes down, and that's when we'll go out, because it'll be cooler at night, yeah."

And finally, of course, there's always a trip aboard the Hiawatha Paddleboat. You can relax in the air conditioned lower level, or come out on the deck and enjoy the cool breeze as you cruise down the Susquehanna River.
