A police officer finds himself on the wrong side of the law. He's accused of stealing money from a program that helps school students.
The I-Team first told you about this story months ago.
Investigators say Joseph Campbell bilked $20,000 from Wyoming Area School District's D. A.R. E. program.
Reports say it happened over the course of six years.
Investigators tell us Campbell didn't show up to teach several dare classes for six years.
He did show up to District Court on Monday to turn himself in.
From 2002 through 2008 investigators say Campbell would apply for and receive eight funded D. A.R. E. grants himself. He never taught classes at Wyoming Area Middle and High Schools.
He only taught at Montgomery Elementary.
In all, more than $20,000 came up missing
The West Pittston Police Chief tells us he noticed something was wrong last August, so he handed all D. A.R. E. records over to the D. A.'s office.
Campbell was fired last November. | |
