DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY -- Police in Luzerne County are doing their part to make sure kids have warm clothes this winter.

The Back Mountain Police Association is behind the "Warm Coats for Kids" drive. It's the first year for the event that collects and gives-out new or gently used winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves.

Misericordia University hosted Saturday's drive. Organizers say the community response was tremendous. People donated more than 350-coats.

Ross Piazza said, "The community's response was tremendous... we never thought... we have more than three times as many coats as we thought we would get."

Warm coats for kids continues Sunday from 9 A. M. to 3 P. M. at Misericordia University's Black Top Lounge in Dallas.
