NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY - Investigators in Northumberland County have positively identified the remains of a woman found five months ago.

Back in June, police found a body in Eldred Township that some speculated was of 42-year-old-Sherry Wolfgang.

Today the coroner reported that he identified the remains as those of missing Mount Carmel woman.

Police say initially, her husband Steven admitted beating his wife to death, then stuffing her body in a metal box and dumping it into the creek.

Her husband has since recanted and now says he had nothing to do with her disappearance.

But Steven Wolfgang did plead guilty to torching her SUV in January the day she was reported missing.
