Corrections Officer Faces Charges
Corrections Officer Faces Charges - Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 6:28PM EST
LUZERNE COUNTY -- Jenkins Township police say 23-year-old Autumn Ceppa of Hanover Township got mad at another driver and purposely slammed into his car before taking off.
Ceppa and her husband left the Wachovia Arena around 9:15pm Wednesday and were driving along Route 315 in front of the Woodlands. That's when Ceppa allegedly slammed on her brakes in front of Vincent Rotondaro of Pittston. Reports show the two repeatedly passed each other, changing speeds, and slamming on their brakes.
Police say Rotondaro tried to get away from Ceppa by pulling into the Wal-Mart off Route 315. But police say Ceppa followed him and intentionally slammed into the driver's side of the car.
Rotondaro's wife, Karen, got behind Ceppa's car to get her license plate number. That's when Ceppa allegedly got back in her car and nearly ran over the woman before taking off. Police caught up with Ceppa. A breathalizer showed her BAC was .063, but an official blood test is pending.
Ceppa's husband returned our call this afternoon and said Rotondaro was also at fault for aggressively driving, but he doesn't face charges as of now.
Ceppa faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault and reckless driving. D. U.I. charges are pending blood test results. Ceppa is a corrections officer at SCI-Dallas. A supervisor there couldn't say what consequences she could face. | |
