SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Lackawanna County has announced a $5.1million economic stimulus package to improve county parks and create about 150 temporary construction jobs. The program would be funded by the County's Landfill Trust fund and state Growing Greened fund.
Undrer the plan Covington Park in Covington Township would be designated as a County Park. The county would invest in $1.3million in renovations in that facility.
Another $800,000 would be used for improvements at Aylesworth Park while $500,000 from te State Emergency Management Agency would be used to rehabiliate a stream channel in McDade Park that was damaged by flooding in 2006.
