SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Lackawanna County has announced plans to build three new "inclusive playgrounds' to be used by children with or without disabilities.

County Commissioner Corey O'Brien said the projects, designed by a group called 'Boundless Playgrounds' will cost one million dollars. The money will come from a grant and Landfill Trust funds to pay for the facilities.

Each of the playgrounds will include equipment that can be used by children with or without disabilities. Fred Leone, CEO of Boundless Playgrounds, says the whole idea is to make the facilities inclusive and get all kids playing together. Leone said Lackawanna County's plan is the largest being implemented in the country.

The first new facility will be constructed in McDade Park at a cost of $500,000. Two others, one in Dunmore another in the Abingtons, will follow.
