BUFFALO, NY- The two people accused in the death of 3-year-old Kavannah Salvadore last year in Scranton faced a judge Tuesday morning. They were in Erie County Court in Buffalo, New York and waived extradition.
That means Darak Williams and Kashema Reddish could be in custody of Scranton police detectives as early as Friday. And at that time, they'll be arraigned on a list of charges, the most serious one being homicide.
It was Sunday night when the pair was picked up from a church shelter in Buffalo, New York. Williams and Reddish had been staying there with their baby.
It wasn't until an airing of America's Most Wanted, that police say six church members realized they were helping and giving shelter to accused murderers.
Scranton police say the mother and father tortured 3-year-old Kavannah Salvador. The alleged abuse led to the toddler's death. An Assistant D. A. called it one of the worst cases of torture and abuse.
And according to police, relatives of Williams and Reddish had been cooperating with police, but according to the chief, only to a point.
And we're told Williams and Reddish never expected to be back in Scranton. It's explained they basically moved on to a new life. But now, they'll answer for murder.
