HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY- An area couple is collecting items to send to their son and his comrades serving with an Ashley based military police battalion. Christopher Schwendeman is a member of the 320th Military Police Battalion and was recently promoted to sergeant. The Amish Pantry is collecting and shipping any new or used CDs, DVDs, books, magazines, crossword and word search books, and food items. They are also collecting necessities such as soap, toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant and foot powder. Anyone who wants to make a donation to the battalion can drop items off at the store. The Schwendemans are also selling yellow ribbons for $2.50 to offset the shipping cost. Christopher signed up for the military while attending
