WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY - A Luzerne County man charged with a 2002 double murder faces a pre-trial hearing, Friday.
It's the latest court action in the case of accused killer Hugo Selenski -- a case that has everyone from prosecutors to the victims' families frustrated.
Michael Kerkowski and Tammy Fassett were murdered in May 2002.
Their remains were found on Selenski's Kingston Township property in June 2003.
He was charged with the double murder in 2006.
So what's taken so long to get a trial date scheduled?
In part, it's because Selenski has stood trial for other crimes.
He was convicted last summer of kidnapping and robbery in Monroe county.
Before that, Selenski was tried in 2006 for another Luzerne County double murder case.
The jury acquitted Selenski of killing Frank James and Adeiye Keiler -- whose remains were also found buried on Selenski's Kingston Township property.
Since the Kerkowski and Fassett murders and Selenski's arrest, a new district attorney in Jackie Musto Caroll is overseeing the prosecution.
Also, one of the county's newest judges -- William Amesbury -- will hear Friday's pre-trial motions.
The question remains -- will a trial date come out of the latest court developments.
Eyewitness News will follow the hearing and bring you the outcome from Luzerne County Court. | |
