Crashes Keep Rescue Crews Busy in Luzerne Co. - Monday, April 20, 2009 at 5:35PM EST

LUZERNE COUNTY- Police are investigating separate crashes during the Monday evening rush that sent several people to the hospital.
Police in Edwardsville investigating a bad crash along Route 11. It happened just after 5:00 P. M. Two cars collided near the entrance of the Gateway Shopping Center.

Five people were involved in the accident. One of those involved had to be extricated from one of the cars. Two people were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Just a few minutes earlier a man was struck by a car in Wilkes-Barre. It happened on the 100 block of Pennsylvania Boulevard near Holy Redeemer High School.

He was taken to the hospital. Police are investigating.
