Williamsport, Lycoming County-

The Williamsport Crosscutters are celebrating their 10th year. They have new uniforms, logos, and a new mascot, Boomer. Now, a struggling economy is making a night out at the ballpark a better deal than ever.

Crosscutters Director of Marketing and Public Relations Gabe Sinicropi, Jr., noted, "All of the last minute preparations that happen in that week before are going on now both in the office, inside the stadium, and on the field."

Historic Bowman Field is the second-oldest minor league ballpark in the country. The Crosscutters, the Class-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, are ready to welcome fans back to the stands with plenty of exciting new opportunities.

One of the most talked about new additions to the ballpark is this $300,000 scoreboard, which is expected to increase fan interaction and heighten the experience for everyone who comes out to a game.

The new digital screen will show high end animations and color photos of players as they take the field. Sinicropi explained, "It will enable the fans to identify more with the players quickly by seeing their face all the time when they enter the game."

Amy Hubbert recently moved out of the area, but still considers herself a big Crosscutters fan. She noted, "Oh I thought it was fun! Enjoyable, good for a family."

She's back here on vacation and hopes to take her baby boy out to some games while she's here. "Definitely going to try. I've got a 2 month old son. I'm going to try to get him out to see the fireworks and get him out to have a good time," she explained.

And with tickets here cheaper than most movies, Bowman Field becomes an attractive night out at a time when prices everywhere are on the rise. Sinicropi added, "This is a great option for fans in this area to come out to the ballpark, if not once, then 5 or 6 times, during the summer."

The Crosscutters first home game will be this Friday, June 20th.
