The jury heard testimony today from family members of Cuadra and Kocis. Cuadra’s mother broke down and said she has protected her son all his life and now will protect him again. She begged for his life. Kocis' family also testified they told the jury they will never see their son again and believes that Cuadra should pay the ultimate price. Both the prosecution and defense team called several witnesses as part of the penalty phase. As of 4:30 today, all witnesses had testified, and the judge decided to hold off on closing arguments and deliberation until Monday morning at 8:30 . The judge is “not” sequestering the jury over the weekend. They're able to go home, but they cannot watch the news or talk to family or friends about the trial.
