SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- A federal judge on Wednesday ordered a sentencing memorandum in the William "Big Billy" D'Elia case unsealed. The document supported the U. S. Attorney's Office efforts to give D'Elia a break on time he'd serve in prison.
The document showed D'Elia "cooperated in the prosecution of Louis DeNaples for lying to the PA Gaming Commission by denying a relationship with D'Elia." The paperwork suggests D'Elia provided photos that showed DeNaples with him, supporting claims DeNaples, the ousted casino-owner, had a longstanding relationship with a member of organized crime.
D'Elia got a more than two year break in his prison sentence for cooperating. DeNaples' perjury charges were later dropped.
