DALLAS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY- A suspended athletic director from Dallas School District is facing theft charges.
Police say Jack Wolensky stole more than $24,000 from the district. Tuesday afternoon, he turned himself in to Dallas Township Police.
Police say he used those positions to steal thousands of dollars. Police Chief Robert Jolley said, "There were some family issues that he was dealing with, some illnesses in the family that he told us he was using the funds for that purpose."
He also says Wolensky wrote checks paying for practice SAT tests, but those tests were free. Wolensky was instead moving the money into a Wyoming Valley Baseball League account. That's the account Wolensky would allegedly spend from.
Police also say he stole part of proceeds from the sale of Dallas High School football helmets.
The school district is now taking the proper steps to fire him.
