DANVILLE, MONTOUR COUNTY- A groundbreaking day in Danville as more than 400 soldiers in central Pennsylvania will soon have a new place to call home.

Ground was broken Thursday afternoon for the 70,000 square foot Danville Armed Forces Reserve Center.

Once completed, the state-of-the-art center will replace older facilities in Lewisburg, Bloomsburg, and Sunbury.

Members of the Pennsylvania National Guard will also call the new center home.

Major General William Monk III, with the 99th Regional Support Command, noted, "Our military deserves the very best- in training, equipment, technology, and facilities- indeed everything that contributes to success on and off the battlefield."

The pricetag for the new Danville Armed Forces Reserve Center is about $19 million.

There's no official word yet when it might be completed.
