DANVILLE, MONTOUR COUNTY -- Bob and Linda McCormick of Danville are staying at a local hotel after flames ripped through their East Market Street home on Saturday.

"We were asleep, and it was my pets that woke us up," said Linda. "I heard a pop and the bathroom was on fire, and I yelled to him."

Bob has proof of the flames. His sweatshirt caught fire and burned his face and hands.

"By the time I even turned around to look again, the fire was across the ceiling," said Bob. "The pets, God bless them, because if it wasn't for them, we probably wouldn't have gotten out."

Now, the McCormicks need to find a permanent place to stay. Because Linda needs a cane to walk, they need a one-story home or a first-floor apartment with rent less than $550 a month.
