(WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY) \

Thursday marked the third day of testimony in the Jeffrey Dennis murder trial.

The former Dallas Township Police Officer is accused of fatally shooting his wife Carli Dennis in the head, as she slept inside the couple’s Wyoming Borough Home. Police and Prosecutors say Dennis pulled the trigger the morning of February 27th, 2006 enraged over Carli’s infidelity with her Luzerne County 911 co-worker Robert Bomboy.

On the witness stand Thursday morning, Bomboy admitted he was romantically involved with Carli Dennis from 2004 to the time of her death. Defense Attorneys questioned Bomboy’s credibility. Lawyers raised concern over “love letters” Bomboy had written Carli prior to 2004.

Bomboy also confessed to “being more than friends” with Carli from 2000 to 2004. Bomboy also claims once Jeff Dennis found out about his wife’s affair, he threatened them both. Bomboy said he was afraid for Carli, himself and his daughter. In his last conversation with Carli, Bomboy told Jurors, “Carli said I’m just going to stay here and take my daily beatings so he doesn’t come after you and your daughter.”

Another of Carli’s Co-Worker’s at the Luzerne County 911, John Molitoris also took the witness stand. He testified to hearing Jeff Dennis verbally abuse his wife over the phone, during his lunch hour inside the 911 break room.

Molitoris added, “Carli just rolled her eyes, like she was used to it. The Jeff Dennis defense questioned why Molitoris never went to his superiors and told them about what he had heard. Other co-workers of Carli’s testified Jeff Dennis was very controlling of Carli and that she constantly had to check in with her husband. Some of Carli’s colleagues even saw bruises, but never sought help for their friend.

Defense laywers questioned why. Another co-worker told Carli to go to their supervisor, when she casually mentioned in conversation that her husband bruised her. That co-worker says he saw Carli walk into the boss’s office, but admits he never followed up with anyone about what Carli had confided in him.

Another co-worker testified Carli stopped her in the parking lot at work once morning and asked the woman, “If she would still be friends with Carli if she left her husband.” The woman responded “absolutely” and asked Carli if she needed a place to stay.

In other testimony, Carli’s best friend from High School and Maid of Honor at her wedding testified the lines of communication with Carli slowly deteriorated throughout her marriage to Jeff Dennis. Rebecca Smith described how controlled she felt her friend was.

She also stated on the day of Carli’s funeral Jeff had told her two different versions of what happened at the Dennis home on the morning in question. Jeff Dennis initially told Rebecca Smith, “he said he was with Carli when he died,” but later changed his story to “he came home and found her dead.” Smith said Dennis also told her, “Look, Carli died because of what she did to me.”

Carli’s Step-Mother painted a similar picture, with Jeff on two separate occasions giving her two different versions of what happened when Carli died. There was also forensic testimony.
