Deadly Fire in Wilkes-Barre

Deadly Fire in Wilkes-Barre - Monday, April 13, 2009 at 07:28AM EST

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Luzerne County Coroner was on the scene of a house fire in Wilkes-Barre Monday morning.
The fire started around 2 a. m. this morning near Chester St. and Pennsylvania Ave. in the city.
Firefighters say there were people trapped inside the home.

Wilkes-Barre Fire Chief Edward Snarski added that the flames stopped them from reaching certain areas of the home.

"We sent several crews in, they were able to make entry into the first floor area. [But] there was too much fire and we had to pull everybody out. We did have people try to make it up to the second floor but they weren't able to"
