HARRISBURG, DAUPHIN COUNTY- Governor Ed Rendell has signed a death warrant for the last Luzerne County-convicted defendant to get the death penalty.

Governor Ed Rendell signed a death warrant Thursday for 38-year-old Michael Bardo of Wilkes-Barre. He was convicted in 1993 of murdering and molesting his 3-year-old niece, Joelle Donovan, in 1992 at the victim's Barney Street home and dumping her body in Solomon Creek.

The execution date is set for February 28th, but Bardo's attorneys argue his rights were violated and are trying to get the execution postponed.
